Time You Can Redraw. Plastic You Can Retire.
modullab diy watch kit for kids background

We started with an awkward question

Can a watch do more than tell time? Can it actually teach something?

The accessory industry runs on the opposite logic — buy it, wear it, get bored, throw it out. Meanwhile the ocean fills with the plastic those throwaway habits leave behind, and the children who'll inherit that problem learn about it from a slideshow.

So we built the answer in Hong Kong: a timepiece engineered from intercepted ocean plastic, with a matte canvas face a child can draw on, assemble, and take apart. You don't lecture a kid about the circular economy — you hand them one and let them build it.

A ModuLab watch doesn't just count seconds. A hand-drawn dial or a tiny note left by a parent becomes a small anchor of comfort a child can glance at through the school day. The idea is simple; the heart behind it is not.

Three subjects. One watch.

Science & Nature

Children handle the recycled ocean plastic the watch is made from, learning polymers, recycling cycles, and marine conservation through real materials.

Engineering & Math

No-glue modular locks build spatial awareness, geometry, fine-motor accuracy, and mechanical reasoning as kids assemble each module by hand.

Art & Self-Expression

Custom-drawn faces turn a timepiece into personal storytelling — washable markers for everyday play, acrylic for a permanent piece of wearable art.

We'd rather show you the build than sell you the feeling.

  • Case & dial: 100% certified recycled ocean-waste plastic.
  • Movement: high-precision Japanese quartz, 3-hand analog, 2–3 year replaceable battery.
  • Build: marine-grade stainless steel back and buckle, high-impact crystal lens, hypoallergenic TPU strap.
  • Fit: a 36mm, 10mm-slim case for kids, teens, and adults — with a shorter strap for under-8s.

A genuinely closed loop.

Most "sustainable" products end in a landfill anyway. Ours is designed to come back.

Every watch starts as ocean waste

Every watch starts as ocean waste

Marine plastic is one of the biggest threats to ocean life. We intercept ocean-bound plastic along coastlines before it breaks down into microplastics, then engineer it into durable, lightweight watch cases — every gram tracked and certified under UL and GRS protocols.

It's a tangible story of renewal you wear on your wrist: a threat to marine ecosystems, turned into something a child is proud to own. Aligned with UN SDG 14: Life Below Water.

Your purchase makes a measurable difference

Buying a ModuLab watch isn't a small gesture — it's real ecological math. Each watch keeps intercepted marine plastic out of the ocean, cuts demand for virgin plastic, and replaces a throwaway accessory with one designed to be repaired, redrawn, and rebuilt for years.

When a part wears out, you swap the module instead of binning the whole watch. Less landfill, less waste, a cleaner ocean — and a daily reminder on your wrist that sustainable living can be colourful and personal.

We are dedicated to UN Sustainable Development Goals

STEAM Meets Quality Education (SDG 4)

Quality Education (Empowering Through STEAM)

We believe that solving tomorrow's environmental challenges requires inspiring the youth today. MODULAB transforms the traditional watch into a hands-on learning tool. By serving as an accessible STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) kit, our timepieces offer students a tactile exploration of mechanics, physics, and environmental science. From understanding precision timing and gear ratios to exploring the engineering of recycled materials, we are fostering the next generation of creative problem solvers.

SDG 12 Responsible Consumption

Responsible Consumption & Production (Circular Design)

True sustainability requires moving away from the "take-make-waste" economy. Through our signature Modular Architecture, MODULAB watches are designed for ultimate longevity. Users can easily swap, upgrade, and customize individual components without specialized tools. By extending the product lifespan and allowing parts to be replaced instead of discarded, we champion a truly circular manufacturing model that reduces waste at every turn.

SDG 14 Child building a sustainable ModuLab STEAM watch kit from upcycled marine plastic

Life Below Water (Protecting Our Oceans)

Our journey begins in the ocean. We actively combat marine pollution by harvesting discarded ocean plastics and engineering them into durable, high-performance watch cases and components. Every ModuLab watch is a tangible story of renewal, turning a threat to marine ecosystems into a beautifully engineered daily companion. We don’t just talk about a cleaner ocean; we wear it on our wrists.

Our deepest belief

We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children. Our modular watch is a tiny concept, but it holds a massive heart.
